About a year has passed since I bought the Fodsports FX8 Pro comms and Bluetooth headset off of Amazon. I feel that's enough time to give an honest, unbiased review. The unit is attached to and installed in a Hax Obsidian helmet.

What holds up

Bearing that in mind, this is a very solid unit. It's been through rain, heat and cold. It starts up as faithfully as ever and continues to put out good sound.

Where it fell short

That being said, the unit does have shortcomings. About six months into ownership, the dial fell off. That meant I could no longer adjust the volume on the headset, and I had to adjust it manually through my phone. I can still turn the device on and off because I can still push the button in, but I can forget about rotating it to adjust my volume.

Then, a couple of months ago, the microphone decided it wasn't going to do its job anymore either. That means I can't use it for communication, phone calls, or anything else that needs a microphone.

Verdict

I consider it a pretty solid buy if you want to listen to your phone while riding. But if you're looking for something for phone calls or communication, I'd make a solid pass on this one.
