Back in action. The full oil drain hose replacement on Lilia, my 2018 Sportster Iron, after the line ruptured: Iron 883 Oil Line Rupture: Split Hose, Empty Oil Tank
The new hose and clamps
The new hose is reinforced. You can see the little dots at the end where the reinforcement sits. It's petroleum oil resistant, won't crack nearly as easily, and has a coating against weathering.
I got a stainless steel clamp kit, about ten of each size. One replaces the one-time clamp up top, which gets thrown out. The other original pieces can be reused.
Cut away from yourself when you open the packaging.
If the hose looks a little short, it still clips on. I had a couple of inches extra.

Removing the front pulley cover
To make room for the new oil drain hose, the front pulley cover comes off.
There's a bolt down low that's hard to get to with the exhaust and heat shield in the way.
Those bolts aren't metric. They're standard. 3/16.
Once those are out, the cover comes off.

Fitting the new hose
Then it's putting it all back together, adjusting by hand.
I'd already fed the fitting through all the pieces I had to take out. Wiping it down helped it feed through easier.
I'd also already put the clamp on this side, so I didn't have to feed it through afterward and fight with it.
Then put it in there and line it up.

Making sure the hose flows
Pro tip: push the hose in as far as it needs to go. On this side, pull it a little and make sure there's good flow through it. From the looks of it, there is.
Make sure the hose isn't stuck or crimped in any way, shape, or form. The last thing you want is that line stopped up, especially when you're trying to drain it.
Then move it into position and tighten the clamps with a slot screwdriver. Pull test. It's not going anywhere.

Checking your work on the refill
Oil is 20W50. Dump a little bit in. Wait a moment. Look at everything.
If something went wrong, the most common place it'll show is right down below.
I'd done an oil change about 250 miles before, so I didn't do another.

The moment of truth
New hose in, clamps on. Oil goes back in, a little at a time, and I check for leaks. Short video, not much talking. That's how we do it on a 2018 883 Sportster Iron.

No leaks at either end. Clear to start her up.
