Tail light relocation and license plate bracket swap are done.
The way I see it, the math was easy. The replacement unit runs about $205, and it would just break again the next time she tips over sideways and falls over. This route cost me about $80 and an afternoon.
That's the whole story. Cheaper, and built so the next tip-over doesn't mean buying the same part twice.
