New rear brake hose going on the R1100RT. A Spiegler hose from Euromoto Electrics.

I think the bike had one of these at one point. It had it when I first got her, then at some point it wasn't there anymore. I don't know when or why.

The hose runs up to the connections, connecting to the piece up top and the piece over here. I put the bolts back in while the old one was off so I wouldn't lose them.

The thing not to forget: there's a piece on the old hose that you need to take off and slide onto the new one. It doesn't come with the new hose. Check the old one before you toss it.

Save the bolt and washers

There's a bolt on the line. A washer on top. And a washer on the bottom, on the other side.

Those don't come with the new line. You just get the line. So save the bolt and both washers off the old line and put them on the new one the same way they came off.

Save your parts. Upgrade the line with them.

Fitting the brake line spacer

With the line laid out, slide the rubber spacer over it. Then that whole piece goes into the half-moon piece. It slides in and sits there, and that's what holds the line in place.

Remove the next piece and set it aside. Then put the other piece right into place.

That'll hold it in. Absolutely fine. The video shows it better than I can describe it.

Is it supposed to be like that?

This is the part where I wasn't sure. Take the line, slide it in here, and it pops into place up there. It should look like that when it's done.

I'm not exactly sure she's fully seated. I'd like to think so. The only way I'll know is to start pumping brake fluid through and see if it leaks.

If you know this bike and can tell from the video, I'd like to hear it.

Bleeding it, and a new leak

Finished getting the new brake line on and started bleeding it. Then I found this.

The new line is leaking. Two spots. Not one. Two.

That's not supposed to happen with a new part. I was frustrated.

So I'm putting a pin in it. I'm waiting for another line to come in, and I'm getting hold of the company to find out how to get this one replaced. Until then, Umbra doesn't go anywhere.
